The staff team is working hard on the server, so I feel like that will pay off soon enough. I only see Badlion improving from here on out, unless Mojang screws with something.

Player count is actually worse
I know people who actually have access to data who would say the exact opposite

And in terms of player count, I imagine what the developers and administrators are going through is reminiscent of Badlion in August 2014? Maybe someone would be okay with confirming or denying that for me.
A certain network of servers owned by a certain Mr Halterman will continue to dominate player counts cos its just so easy and pay to win, 'Hardcore' gamemodes like UHC and HCF are no longer hardcore in the traditional sesne, and Badlion's community managers would be wise to stay away from trying to attract players from those servers because we don't do potion as well. Target hypixel/minigame noobs and convert them to the pvp community slowly (this happens on its own), I reckon its our best shot.
im pretty sure that for the last one the opposite is happening lol

Something being discussed tomorrow here is actually casual-competitive integration with newer/current gamemodes like bedwars/CTW. It's a huge issue that more players are leaving than entering the competitive scene. One way to tackle the issue is to try to create a fun and addictive gamemode (let's just use bedwars as our example because most minigames noobs like that game) that attracts newer players, but is also fun and worth it to play competitively. However, creating boring, plain old gamemodes that have already been done before inevitably kills the game because it doesn't attract any newer players. There isn't just one way to tackle this problem. You need to somehow find a way to make the game competitively viable (in tourneys, scrims, ect.) without ruining the fun minigames style aspect of the game. In the case of bedwars, this is an extremely difficult problem to overcome because you can't just add crazy and unique aspects to the game without killing it's competitive scene. Yes, you can change the game so that it fits both of those categories enough so that it's addictive, fun to play, and competitive, but coming up with that sweet spot is tricky. Hence why it's being discussed tomorrow. Hopfully some people will have ideas of their own about the game design.
As for older competitive gamemodes on Badlion like CTW, CTF, Domination, ect. These games (expect for CTW) get almost no players on in casual lobbies. Competitively, they attract a pretty big audience. These gamemodes are usually the most successful in tournaments, as well as in semi-competitive PUG's. The issue is, they don't attract too many new players, and their communities will inevitably shrink over time as a result. If the best of these gamemodes can somehow be transferred into newer, more casual friendly, competitive gamemodes, then I think Badlion will certainly do amazing. Or, we can try to make these gamemodes more noob friendly to try to get newer players into their communities.

well minecraft isnt competitive enough to satisfy the super tryhard audienceall the old people who have mastered the simple 1.7 pvp are older now and have other things to do, no new people are really discovering this sort of pvp as mojang pushes their shitty 1.12 pvp. Without new people to replenish and flourish on badlion eventually every person who has dedicated hours into the game will get bored and move on. also badlion quickened this process by removing elo , extra long seasons, and addition of useless gamemodes.
- im banned on my main acc so using this

A few reasons :1.) Mojang
2.) Needs better advertisement
3.) Need's new game modes and scrap the dead ones
4.) Cater for the staff - What I mean by this is, why do you think like 12 staff members left during this evaluation? They are burnt out/demotivated to the point where they don't want to even log onto Badlion. That was me and I just think if you look at how hypixel manages their staff, you can understand why people like Rxwrr tried to leave Badlion and join the Hypixel staff team. There's no good in letting a staff member on 6 hours a day if they get burnt out in 3 months. You need to not put pressure on them to do well in the evaluations and be so competitive when it comes to promotions.No-one really acts like they aren't bummed out if they don't get promoted or someone does but most of them do.
5.) Try new trends
6.) You need to focus on a certain area to improve on one step at a time.

With the mass loss of staff over the past month-ish, the same exact thing happens every year. At the start of 2016 there went from 8 S UHC Hosts to 2 and a few admins left and at the start of 2017 lots of the senior staff left, now this year both seniors and admins have left. Its a common theme among most staff teams. I do agree that there is a higher expectancy to be active than there used to be but it is managable if you effectively spend time on the server. Also the rxwrr example isn't really a good example, she was staff on badlion for over a year and a half of course she would want to try something new.

I think the most common complaints I hear that aren't racial stereotyping is that GCheat isn't good enough anymore to keep up. I sat down and thought how this could be holding Badlion back when the biggest network have an inferior anti-cheat (in my opinion) and I think this is largely because Badlion is competitive already and cheaters are hated more in a competitive scene compared to a casual scene.I feel like if we can really increase the communities exposure, the ability to market the most cheat free market in Minecraft is a huge leg up on all the other networks.
I agree there are areas that are flawed and need improving, however too often the feedback I manage to get actually does not give any real advice, it's more this is broken, that is broken, Badlion is dying, FIX IT! Which is pretty useless. I value the opinions of others however, if you are going to be close minded and shoot down every potential solution you will have a hard time ever being satisfied with the situation.
I think a lot of the right moves are being made, whilst many of the admins are stepping down, these new admins will provide a new perspective and a new motivation to strive forwards and achieve our goals as a network. I think Badlion is growing at the moment, I seem to see higher peaks on the weekend and at that weird time where EU and NA overlap, which is what I think is most important.
Looking back, GCheat used to be considered this almighty power and other networks players would judge you by whether you were GCheated or not, I wish the community still had the respect for GCheat as it once did as it is still highly effective, unfortunately cheats are getting too advanced for server side anti-cheats to both have a high ban rate and a low false ban rate, something other anti-cheats that people claim to be better do not manage as well.
My final point is this, at the start of this year we had a lot of YouTube/Twitch support from xNestorio and his group, however since Ultra came around this support has not been there and yet, Badlion is still at a similar player count even with a multitude of delays on gamemodes and a Premium plan which did not go the desired way. To screw up, yet not experience a negative net gain demonstrates to me that the community is growing and that there is still a lot of potential for Badlion to become one of the biggest networks out there and reach peaks of 20k+

it stopped being good when you stopped staffing xddddbut actually the server is losing player count by the second, and i dont think it'll stop. i've been playing badlion since season 4 of arena and around seasons 9-12 the server was, like, super popular. whats wrong is that the community don't like change. all that's happened is badlion's gamemodes have been optimized so much, so much so that they are not the same as they used to be, and the community don't like that.
as for uhc, it's 100% the community's fault. you can't be complaining about the SERVER QUALITY after getting cleaned when you do it yourself and it's part of the game. this goes the same for trucing. so many americans truce and they use the excuse 'we need to truce cause beaners are trucing against us' like doesn't that just add to the problem lol???
badlion will eventually die, but not to the fault of the server

@Saimo your response to this was absolutely correct, not sure why you -snipped- ur post.
Additionally, i'd like to add that if a large, major part of your motivation for moderating the server is the prospect of having a purple rank, and not helping the community get rid of it's hindrances such as cheaters and toxic individuals, then maybe you shouldn't moderate at all. The administration don't cater for you, you cater to them or leave the staff team. You are not paid, you don't have to moderate the server as you are a volunteer, so don't fool yourself into a sense of entitlement. The owners are incredibly grateful for everything their staff does, both paid and volunteers, and will go to great lengths to help you out if in trouble, but if you disagree with the way the staff team is run, voice your opinion and if it's ignored then tough shit.
The management team and higher ups cannot be held accountable for the motivation of staff members, that is up to the individual.

inevitable death. Player count that you once had will never return because of stupid basic mistakes made by the owners. Then again ,they are coders, not businessmen. They made poor mistakes like not listening to the community which is basically their market, if ur not satisfying consumers, your firm won't do well. Especially since minecraft pvp is an elastic good, there's so much stuff you can replace it with. Other servers, games etc. You have to understand that the market is competitive and stay on top of things. Badlion slacked and lost their playerbase. Even now, if jhalt returned, Ultra would destroy Badlion. Luckily for you guys, he's got better opportunities so he's not returning in the foreseeable future. Anyhow, badlion is doing okay and thats where it'll stay, or get worse. It will never get the playerbase they once had.
