There's not really a need to see when a person has posted and I think it would just notify spam people. Say if you followed me and I was replying to lots of threads and you got a notification every time I did, would that not annoy you? I know it would annoy me. Thats why I think this would be useless.

The point of this idea is so people can follow people's post if someone really enjoys someone's forum account posts/threads.
I definitely see your point; the forums provides the individuals that use it with basic forms of socialising, but that’s all we really need in my opinion. I guess this is where the common ground ends, but this is what suggestions are for, right?

If you would get annoyed then unfollow them. It's the same with other social media platforms
