Making Badlion fun again!
Sit tight and strap your seatbelts, because this is gonna be one hell of a long thread. I will be discussing everything from UHC to the global rating on arena. Remember this is not a thread of me bashing on badlion, this is a thread of me saying what I think could change badlion for the better.

The different topics I will be discussing:

- The global rating system, basically me telling my opinion about the current global system, and how I think it should be.
- UHC, Why there aren't much people playing it anymore, and how to get people to start playing it again. (C misses its Ultra Hardcore)
- KB, and its how it affects the player amount. This will also contain my opinion about the KB, and why I think the kb is bad.
- New Exp/Missions system and a clan/team system.
- How do we bring back players or get new players?
- Ideas/Suggestions
- Conclusion.

Global rating on Arena PvP

So a week or two back I posted a thread regarding the global system, and how I mean that it does not show off your actual 'global' skill level. I have been rethinking everything I said in that thread, and have tried perfecting it.

Most of the competitive players on badlion believe that this system is extremely bad because it pushes us to only play a couple of kits. And I totally agree with them. I think we need three new categories that show off your skill.

Speed, Bow, and last but not least Melee.

Speed will contain the following kits:

NoDebuff
Debuff
Gapple

Bow will contain the following kits:

Archer
UHC (Adding a diamond helmet for more hp/longer fights)
Iron

Melee will contain the following kits:

Build UHC
Soup (Non-speed, aka the German way, will get players onto the server)
SG
Diamond

These three categories will define your global elo so the math would be fx:
(Build UHC + Soup + SG + Diamond)/3 = Overall Melee elo.

Then your global elo would be:
(Melee + Speed + Bow)/3 = Global Elo.

Pretty simple.
This will encourage players to play other kits than the three kits which define your global elo currently.

I would also have three places in the lobby, one each for speed, bow, and melee.
Here it would show with statues (NPC) who the best person is in each individual kit.


UHC

Ohh yes. One of my favorite gamemodes of all-time, or at least it was. So much has changed, and not for the better (Exception 7.0, and trucing/teaming rules, actually some stuff has LOL). So you probably know the drill by now. Currently, we are seeing games, that work exactly like UHC, develop with incredible speed, so why don't UHC? The reason why fortnite is fun to play right now is because is hard (Because there is a lot of very good players), and the same went for UHC back in the day it was also hard, and ANYTHING could happen. It was very unpredictable, which was why it was so fun, cause you had variation from game to game. Nowadays, there are three ways to play UHC: Nether, Border and Cave all game.

The objective of the game should be that you have to play aggressively to win. You shouldn't be able to win just because you cave the entire game. Now I am gonna say something that a HUGE part of you guys will disagree with me on. I think that they should lower the diamond rates. BUT LOUIE, then it will be easier for the xrayers to win. This is where I tell you, that it is already all the xrayers that win. They just xray differently, they go to spawners/mineshafts for books and dig to fortresses/players. It is still a huge advantage to xray, and it will stay that way until a client makes it impossible to do so. So why not lower the diamond rates. So I realize I have to step-down on something I personally love which is snowballing on a horse. I suggest removing saddles in every mineshaft chest + books. This will make it less beneficial to xray. Furthermore, I would make it so that you only get saddles in spawners, and that spawners are never connected to caves. Therefor it will be way easier for us hosts to ban the xrayers.

Snowballing has to be the way of playing UHC that is the most worth.

So how do we do this? We could add so whenever you kill someone you get 1/3 of your levels, put on your existing levels. Making it so people that snowball can get more stacked. We can also do so the amount of exp you get from ores decreases after every border shrink. This will make it less worth for people to cave the entire game. I think it is also very important that the people who have created 7.0 UHC, show initiative to play it themselves, cause what is the point if they don't like it…

Make mobs do more damage, quite controversial, but this makes it harder to play UHC, which is something that is lacking. Also get those creepers exploding again.

BAC UHC'S

The future for the UHC gamemode.
Here we will be able to have saddles in mineshafts and spawners, we could still have it so that the exp gets reduced every border shrink.
We should make caves smaller, making it harder to get full diamond at the border.

I think that these games, should still have hosts to make it so that trucing/teaming doesn't happen, but I don't think the host are nesecarry in the start of the game, but they can join on and off.

KB

I will first show you some examples of how much kb is taken, in non-speed.

How much KB a normal sword hit does, while somebody is moving at you.





How much KB a rod hit does, while somebody is moving at you.

First of all, I wanna analyze the reason why the kb was changed in the first place.

The old KB had a lot more problems than just rodding after community consensus revealed the true issues. The goal of Badlion is to be the hub for competitive, legit gameplay. part of that entails being a server where your skill level reflects your rewards and status, meaning more practice = more wins = higher elo. This concept, however, is thrown out the window when a player with 15cps is trading evenly with someone with 2. You can't get off amazing combos, and you can't really differentiate who's a good player and who's a casual. As such a lot of players remained frustrated. Fights became "who can drain who faster" rather than "who's practiced more." A lot of this was due to the amount of Horizontal knockback, and minimal vertical knockback for projectiles, such as rods and arrows. Along with the melee knockback having "aggressive friction," and minimal vertical value.


So the reason the kb was looked into in first place, was because some famous YouTubers were getting annoyed from getting rodspammed (reb). After that, they found out that there were more problems with the kb, because it apparently wasn't able to suit badlion as the hub for competitive and legit gameplay. Then it is also said here that your actual skill level wasn't reflected with your elo. and that you can't get off with amazing combos, and that people with 15 cps and trading with people with 2 players.

Let's just look at clip 2 for a second, because the real reason the kb was changed was because people would rodspam to much. But you can clearly see that this is still a possibility so we can definitely say that this problem was NOT fixed. Then it is mentioned that the old make badlion a worse place when it came to legit and competitive gameplay. Let's talk about "Legit", this kb is so laggy, and irregular so it is EXTREMELY hard to tell if players are lowkey cheating. A huge amount of us mods agree on this, because if you just use 3.3 reach, then the mods won't be able to tell whether you are cheating or not. Especially because laggy players have a huge advantage, so those cheaters could just be laggy players. The only thing that can actually catch these players is gcheat. Then it was also concluded that it didn't actually show off your skill level, but this is where I totally disagree. The current kb gives a huge advantage to the laggy players, and actually not the good players. The people with high elo with the old kb was actually REALLY good. But now it is just a question whether you have the ping advantage. It is also stated that a player with 2 cps could trade evenly with a player with 15, which is obviously false. But I went ahead an tested how it works with this kb. In clip 4 you can see that I and Purox are fighting he is clicking 5 cps, and I am clicking 10-11. The only reason why I win this fight is because I get the first hit before him, there is no other reason. This is the only situation where my click speed mattered. So we can also confirm that the problem here wasn't fixed either.

I will now show you an example from build UHC showcasing why this kb doesn't show off your actual skill level.





You can see in this clip how it is almost impossible to start combos in build UHC unless you have the low ground. Whenever you try to strafe a person you will always end up getting two hits and he/she/it will get one. So that problem wasn't fixed either.

This kb forces us to lava spam, as you take 0 kb in lava. And because your rod doesn't do any kb either it is extremely hard to initiate combos. You will also have extreme trouble getting out of lava because the rod doesn't do much kb, so if you are stuck you are dead. Pretty much me saying how the lava is too op.

And for the people saying "Rod doesn't require skill", well rod-spamming don't but if you wanted to be a top-tier player, you had to be able to time your rods while strafing, so yes it does require skill.

How to "Make the kb great again", you could either revert to s15, which had almost NO community complaints, or you could develop a new kb, which would be put on the real servers, for the PC to test because then you would see how the kb's work when affected by player count. Of course, there would be different test values for each kit, for the PC to look at. Kinda like season 14 with the 4 test kits that were voted for. But now it will just be the PC voting for the values.

Before you call me a crybaby. Yes, I am a crybaby about this subject, because it is one of the absolute most important things on badlion. And more players have expressed hate towards this kb than any other before (Maybe not s13's kb, but that was not good either)

A new missions system, and clan system?

So recently I have been thinking, how the hell do we bring players to the network? We have to do something to make it interesting and competitive. Something where you can compete against your friends, and that is where the missions system steps in. We see fortnite have this system, and they are benefitting massively from it. Players try to see who get can get the highest tiers and so on. You might say, Minecraft isn't the same as fortnite Louie. Well, it isn't, but it has a lot of similarities. We could develop a system that would fit badlion as well. Missions will be daily, weekly and seasonally. You would get EXP for various things lets take UHC as an example.

UHC:

Daily: Get 5 kills
Weekly: Get a 7 killstreak
Seasonally: Get 15 wins

These are just examples. The daily missions will easy, the weekly will be medium and the seasonally will be hard.
You would get different types of reward like the cosmetics, badlion capes and so on (Cool Things!). Badlion could eventually sell Badlion passes, which would give you more exp when you complete a challenge, and you are able to get more cosmetics than someone without one when you move along the levels.

The clan system!

So this is a new system I thought about, that could revive the clan community. It could work with the blc, but it is not necessary. So with this new system, you will be able to create teams! These teams will compete against each other, in a league!. There would be an NA, and EU part in this. So the NA teams will battle each other and the same goes for the EU ones.

If you win you get 2 points. So say I create a clan called badlion staff. But we are 50 players in this clan, so we could easily get more teams. Then I would /team create BadlionStaff1, and an officer in my clan would create BadlionStaff2. This way both teams can compete in the tournament.

At the start of the season, you will get put in a group. the group stages will last 2 weeks. There will be 4 teams in each group. And you would only have to fight the other team once. The number one and two in each group would move on to the knockout stages.

So the teams would get told who should fight who at the start. Aka in each group. Fx:

This week:

Group 1:

Week 1:

Team 1 has to fight team 3

Team 2 has to fight team 3

Team 4 has to fight team 2

Team 1 has to fight team 4.

Week 2:

Team 1 has to fight team 2.
Team 4 has to fight team 3.

You will have that week to do the fight, the team leaders will talk with each other and decide a time where they can fight each other. The kits will be Build UHC, Iron, and NoDebuff.
Best of 3 in each of them. This means that a fight between one team and another will maximum last 1 hour. If the two teams cant figure out a time to play, none of them would get the two points. Unless one of the teams provide proof to a tournament staff that it was the other team, that didn't want to fight. If you miss more than 2 fights your team will automatically be disqualified. To do the fights it would be a simple command like /team fight {teamname}, and then the other team would /team fight accept {teamname}. Pretty simple. It will be alerted in chat that the different teams are fighting, which will create hype.

The knockout stages:

Here the winners and runners-up in the groups would fight each other.
This could be streamed on the Badlion channel.

I am thinking how this could kinda work like the overwatch league.
But in the knockout stages, there are certain times which has already been decided weeks in advance. So people can actually show up to it. The winners would get a certain reward that I have no clue what should be.

The same system with /team fight would work here as well, to make sure there is no trouble.

(Kiivo, ik you don't like this idea) I need feedback on this as well, I am not 100% sure what should be in everything.


Players

So how do we get players back? First of all, we have to make our various gamemodes interesting, with doing the changes that I have suggested above with KB, Missions, and changes to UHC.
Currently, a lot of the gamemodes are not entry level gamemodes. Which is probably what badlion needs. We need some original arcade gamemodes that can bring players to the server to develop a new community. I suggest doing a competition for like 50 dollars, to the winner for the best original gamemode, that can get players onto the server.

If not wanting to create original gamemodes, a huge amount of players could be drawn to the server with HCF, if only playable with the badlion client.


Ideas/Suggestions

So the other day I suggested doing a thing where people would get an actual answer whether or not their suggestion was good or bad. I wanna talk about this again today, just with a couple of changes, after discussing it with an admin.

So currently we have a black hole of ideas/suggestions that was never cleared out and never got an answer. These threads are not taken into consideration here, these will be put under ideas/suggestions but it will have an (Old) around it, just like the old appeals.

The system will work differently this time though if the thread has gotten a decent amount of attention the community managers will show it to the pc (decent is like 10 +1's and above) the pc then discusses on whether or not it is a good idea. When they are finished that thread will be moved into another section called Ideas/Suggestions (Resolved), here the community manager which presented the thread to the PC, will write a short summary of what the pc thought, and whether or not they think it should be implemented. This could be changed around though. If you thread has not received enough attention after 2 weeks of post date it will just be moved into resolved with a community manager replying (Not enough attention) Player council hasn't reviewed. This system will allow the players to know whether or not their threads were discussed and also whether or not it was good, or if it will even get implemented. Pretty simple.

Conclusion

So I would like to end off by saying that this is what I believe combined will make badlion a better gaming environment and a way funnier server. Perhaps it could even help revive the server quite a bit. Ty for reading the thread. +1, and -1 THE individual parts of the thread. or Just +1 one if you liked everything.
