Therefore, the idea of pushing a competitive Minecraft agenda was skilled from my perspective. I have no motivation to do so anymore as my end goal was crushed. Sorry :(
Glad to hear that there are other servers out there trying to fill the void, but like you said I don't think any of them will truly be able to.
First of all, thanks for still replying!
I completely understand what you mean and why their policies destroyed your motivation as you had this ultimate goal, this ideal you worked hard for and can most likely never realize.
However, does this mean that Badlion network can not be the main competitive place for the community? Don't you think one could expect revenue and success from operating the Badlion Network on a smaller, cheaper scale with only the popular gamemodes running? You should remember that Minecraft has always been a game run by us, not them. The people at Microsoft/Mojang might have created the game, but it's truly us players and servers that run it and make it what it is on a day to day basis and it is the same players that are demanding the product you created.
Just think about how thousands of players are still playing on old 1.7 and 1.8, a version completely untouched by Microsoft! You must see that it's always been such small, entrepreneurial measures taken by the community that unfold this game's enormous potential, while it has never been done through some sort of monopolistic eSports campaign ran by Microsoft.
The fact that you at Badlion Network were the only ones able to ever establish a competitive environment that reminds of an eSport without Microsoft's help just reminds us of how great you were doing your job and that this style of work has set you in a unique spot by now!
Even though you might not be able to turn Minecraft into that one, big official eSport brand, you can still operate your own brand, a platform for those thousands of players wishing to play competitively in an eSports-like environment on there.
Always remember this, GBerry, and as I said, please reconsider giving the network another chance. Ask the community, make a twitter poll or similar, and trust me, your motivation will return!
EDIT: No, Badlion was not a great server because of nostalgia, it was one because it had until this day elsewhere unseen quality gameplay.

Without getting too much into the details, Badlion Network was a great learning experience for me, but it was not a very successful business. It built a great brand and legacy, but failed in many other areas. My decisions and opinions here are not changing. You are wasting your time. That energy would be better used towards helping one of these other servers fill the void left by Badlion Network.
Good luck :)

Will you guys ever add another translator language? I'm from Norway and speak Norwegian, currently there is no translation for it.Posted on 06 June 2020 - 04:17 PM
We add translations slowly over time based on player counts in the region. The more players from a specific region, the more likely we are to add language support for it.Posted on 06 June 2020 - 02:01 PM
Let me get a bit nerdy here hehe ;)What do you feel as your biggest achievement you made as a developer?
What is the most important thing you learned while being a lead for such a development project.
What is your favorite coding language?
What kind of project would you like to work on in the future?

Why does this nerd have Famous!?1. My biggest achievements as a developer would definitely be building Badlion Network from the ground up and having over 3M unique users on it during the period of it. I also thought GCheat was really advanced and accurate considering how little effort and work I put into it. I'm also super proud of building a cross-operating system compatible launcher with over 1M users as well. That last one…is still a massive ongoing challenge. Server programming is so easy…client programming is a nightmare.
2. Trusting the team members around me. It's a lot easier to do everything yourself, but it's a hinderance to try and do so. I have to trust and work with all of the people around me in order to continue to move Badlion forward. It's something I'm still struggling with to this day, but I'm trying to get better at it.
3. I love the raw power and control with C++, but I will admit Python is probably my favorite quick/dirty language. Java is definitely a healthy balance between laziness and power/performance.
4. I actually have several projects I want to work on in the future, but unfortunately those are not for public information :)

Hmm, yeah this definitely sounds like a niche issue unless your computer's hardware is not that fantastic overall.
