Hey everyone. As some of you may have noted in the latest Development log (which can be found here https://www.badlion.net/forum/thread/64138) we are planning on bringing Skywars to Badlion soon.At this point in time we have most of the core pieces put together. We want to have an open discussion with the community about possible ideas that we can do to make our Skywars system more unique and interesting. As you know we are able to make things more extensive than other networks with very custom/advanced features since our team has a lot of top quality developers on it. Badlion is owned by developers, not businessmen.
I am curious what people have in mind for our Skywars servers versus something like Hypixel's (which arguably is the largest in existence at the moment). I want to have an open discussion for ideas on how we should build/design the system.
8 player maps?
16 player maps?
128 player maps?
All of the above?
Should we have kits? Should everyone always start off with the same thing? Should we have a progression system? What should you get from the progression system?
I want to get as much detailed feedback as possible. I will literally read every single essay people write in this thread. The more information/suggestions the better.

8 player maps? Yes, most of the games should be 8 players16 player maps? A little bit should be 16
128 player maps? Maybe one or two 128 player maps, but there would need to be like a moving border, so kids can't camp 24/7
There should be two different skywars. One for the regular players and then for the over-powered players. The progression system should be if you hit a certain amount of wins you rank up to a rank.
I don't have a lot to really go on about, but for those really. Really hyped for this :P

I love skywars, I think it's a great idea, however one of the biggest problems in skywars is camping. I hope we could have some solution to this, be it a shrinking border or something else.I think we could have all three of the amount of players.
Kits would depend on how the kits are gained. I think we could have a system were your kills are like a currency where you buy the various kits to use.

For the beginning, I think you should start with the lower amount of players because it's not known how many players will actually play it at a time and what is the fill going to be like. If you set 128 players that can join and it needs, for example, at least 100 players to join, in the non-peak times, that's going to last a while until it all fills in. My suggesion would be to start off with 16-32 player slots and then decide based on the fills wether to extend the player fills or lower them. At weekends, when there are most people playing, there should be a few bigger SkyWars maps just to bring more action and more entertainment.About kits, if you're going to make kits, they shouldn't be overpowered and I think everyone should have access to them, wether you're a regular player, a donor (any kind) or some other rank. You don't want to ruin players' experience by adding overpowered kits which ruin the games for other. In my opinion, I think there should be no kits. Just plain spawn and getting geared from chests and by killing players.
Progression system would be good, but I, currenlty, can't think of anything that could influence your progression. Maybe it should be messured in kills? In k/d ration? Don't really know but if anyone else has anything in mind, please suggest.

It should be measured in wins, in my opinion. So lets say you start out as a Traniee, you win 5 matches and you rank up to Student, then 10wins to Teacher, etc.
Doesn't have to be those names just giving an example

Team gamemode, the possibility to duel other friends in 2v2s / 3v3s (not ranked, just for fun) and 8, 24 and 128 servers. Things like achievements, friends system and stuff like that would be also cool.Posted on 23 July 2015 - 06:46 PM
I like the idea of 8 as solo, 16 as solo or teamed, and something like 32 for to2 or 48 for to4. But if there is more it should have something like (yes I know) MIneplex where after having enough time to loot and then craft a couple things the radius starts closing and if you are outside it maybe instead of the world falling, you get struck by lightning…that also adds in you can't tell where the border is but if you are outside it you take damage like dmatch in HG.Posted on 23 July 2015 - 07:01 PM
To be honest this sounds like fun, but even during the popular days of the archon the 100 player sky wars games never filled, so honestly keep it to 8, 16 or maybe even 30 but no more. Just my opinion don't hate :pPosted on 23 July 2015 - 07:03 PM
