Ranked Matches are probably Badlions most popular event, theyre the reason that most players started playing it, and the implementation of elo made it an even more competitive thing and made you have a goal to strive towards, but its impossible to have fun if every player you fight that would actually benefit you with enough elo to get close to your goal, you die because you cant even touch them because they have 10 ping, 9/10 players with over 1800 elo arent even really skilled, the only reason they have all that elo is because of their ping which makes for a very unfair and aggravating playing experience for everybody else, so my idea is to find a way to cap off the amount of ping each player gets to the server at around 50 or 60, this gives much more leeway for players who dont have stupidly good internet and will make the fights more based off of skill not connection to the server, which in turn would lead to a happier, better community.Posted on 21 September 2015 - 07:12 PM
Umhh and what do you want the guys with good ping to do? Move just so they get worse ping? -1 stupidest idea I've ever seen on the forumsPosted on 21 September 2015 - 08:05 PM
@*deleted-96553 ping isn't that big of a deal tbh, I get 140 and can still do good against high ranked peepsPosted on 21 September 2015 - 08:22 PM
You obviously don't know what you're talking about. So your saying with 10 ping anyone could be good?Posted on 21 September 2015 - 08:25 PM
Smelly wrote this somewhereThe server processes 1ms the exact same as it does 50ms at the same time.
Ping is NOT that large of a factor in minecraft pvp.

-1. I like hoy you call everyone with over a 1800, "Not even good". Please explain why you feel eligable to insult people that have the elo that you cannot obtain? Ping is not that big of a difference unless you have over 120. People with ping, MIGHT get one or two ping hits, but what can you do about laggy people? Lag is a factor too. Don't mess with ping. It is a part of the game. I hate kids like this that call everyone over 1800 a pinger, and just whine and bitch on the formsPosted on 22 September 2015 - 11:11 AM
"Ping is not a big factor in Minecraft pvp."Whether or not that is true is totally irrelevant. If it really weren't a large factor, then it would make sense to implement a ping cap - that way people will have to stop ranting and raving about pingers all the time. That's not to say, necessarily, that @OP's suggestion is a good idea, rather, it suggests that your reasoning is askew.
@OP However, whether or not ping is a big deal, this suggestion would be irrational to implement on a number of levels. First of all, it's unlikely that such a suggestion is even possible to pull off, from a development standpoint. If it were possible, it probably A) would take far too much work to be useful and B) would stress the server immensely. But, more importantly, Badlion, in its quiddity, is a practice server, and playing on Badlion as it is trains players to know how to play with and against all sorts of pings. This helps them develop into stronger players for other servers where ping still exists, and taking that away from the players will do nothing but harm their progress as a better player. He might learn to play well against normal pings, but as soon as he steps onto another server, all his Badlion practice goes to waste. That's not what we want, so we should let players continue to practice in a vanilla Minecraft environment.

Stupiedest shit ive ever heard tbh, you only say that because you CAN'T get over 1800 because your not good enought ot get over 1800, not because of others ping but because of your skill.I was 2100 at the end of last season and i get 50 - 60 ping
Posted on 22 September 2015 - 03:11 PM
This is idiotic, I time out every 10 matches and I still got my alt to 1900 last season. My ping fluctuates every 2 seconds from 30-80, its horrible for pvp but I live with it? try to improve and stop making excuses.Posted on 22 September 2015 - 03:20 PM
This is incredibly stupid. You saying if you have 10ms your basically invincible is not at all true. I get 10 and we usually get even gits against each otherPosted on 22 September 2015 - 06:42 PM
It's actually the other way around, laggy kids require less skill because someone who has 20 ping like me could rod them back like 3 times and they'll still hit me after that because of the delay hits and kb
That's why lots of the cali players are considered "good"
they run through rodding and get double hits
Posted on 22 September 2015 - 07:09 PM
Well, I mean I agree somewhat verillium, but to be completely honest, as a Cali player, I get REALLY good combos on Cali servers, as well as badlion, on which I get 100 ms. There is a difference, I agree, but high ping and low ping both have disadvantages, so coming from both standpoints i don't really think its fair to complain about ping.Posted on 22 September 2015 - 08:08 PM
Learn to use your ping to your advantage.Posted on 22 September 2015 - 08:49 PM

@MasterGberry @SmellyPenguin
I found that out about 8 months ago after I just thought about it.
- my friend made a video
How long have you guys known about the ping zone thing?
Also I would like to add that 45ms can be better than 10ms because the person who has 45ms is "lagging" behind the server more and therefore can seemingly hit from farther away.

If you were good enough you'd get over 1800. Obviously you have to adjust your play style according to the ping you get, but the only thing holding you back is yourself because you are undisciplined. Stop trying to make up excuses in order to justify your skill. Also "good" internet is irrelevant, what matters more is location. I'm honestly getting sick of these posts.Posted on 24 September 2015 - 12:18 PM

Some of our best players have 100+ ping to the servers. It's about learning to adapt.
The best players in any serious competitive game will always be the best because they always are trying to improve. The people who cry and complain all day are the rejects who will never be able to become the best players in a game. Very few have this capability, I know I don't.
