Question Regarding Arenas
Posted on 27 February 2016 - 02:37 PM
Alright, so I'm just going to start off by saying how I discovered this and why I believe the way arenas are handled can be an issue to most players. So, I wanted a way to achieve the best looking render settings possible so I could have good quality videos for my YouTube channel, this is something I have worked on for a while, but even though I have good render settings, the wool used in 90% of the maps completely destroys the bitrate on any videos recorded on ArenaPvP for Badlion YouTubers. As a result, considering I couldn't find anything created to get rid of the problem, I decided to make myself an overlay pack to reduce the quality loss - this pack would've made all wool in any arena become clear, thus reducing the effect on video quality. After I had made the pack, I tested it on Badlion and well… I mean I noticed around 10 arenas in the area, I went into spectator mode to ensure it was correct, and I found out that there were at least 100+ arenas grouped together which is what is really confusing me.Yes, I understand that the way that they are handled currently are a way to reduce server lag, but at the same time it also increases the fps lag and stuttering that a majority of players on ArenaPvP seem to be claiming about. Sure, I have a custom built gaming PC with decent specs (i7-4790k, GTX 970, 16GB RAM etc) and I have been having issues myself regarding lag. It makes it a pain to create good content as I can't necessarily use a high resolution pack and record at the same time, sometimes I struggle to record with a 64x64 pack which is rather ridiculous. I believe the issue could by changing the /duel plugin to allow multiple players to have multiple fights within the same arena at the same time, I believe other servers use this method to both reduce lag for the players and the server, which in the end result may even be a better option for Badlion.
Just wanted to make sure, never knew of this before I created the clear wool pack, thanks for reading.
