Everyone I see thing ELO is what makes you good, if you have 2K your good and if you have 1500 your shit. This is not the case people, Elo is just a number and number doesnt show who you are or what you can do. The people have made the mindset Elo is what proves if your good or not, they are all wrong. You cant win every match you play and you cant always have good days. Sometimes we have bad days for our pvp and sometimes we have good days, it dosnt matter. If you have 1500 elo it dosnt mean your bad at pvp, it means you dont win every match. People in UHC's will say "msg me to team 2000 elo". People what is wrong with you, elo wont show whos good and whos bad. People have shared accounts and people wont always earn their elo legit. Elo is nothing more than a label we use to describe who we see as "good" and "bad". I personally dont have the best Elo and Im happy about that, Im not a hacker , a tryhard, or somone who uses shared accounts. Im a guy who plays pvp for fun, yes this is a competitive server and yes people strive to be the best but numbers wont show whos the best, gameplay will. Next time your looking for a team in a UHC forget the numbers, forget the labels, team with a randy and they might impress you.Posted on 11 May 2016 - 09:08 PM

Yup, you can get 2k elo by just beating 1200sPosted on 11 May 2016 - 09:44 PM

You can only play ppl within 700 elo of you.
Elo does prove how good a player is. Bad players claim that they "don't tryhard" and that 2k+ just grind all day and have no life… I only have 20 matches a day and sometimes don't even use them, a barely even play build and I hit 2k. People need to come up with a new excuse other than calling people who are better than them "tryhards." To get high elo you have to consistently play at your highest potential. So the excuse of "I was having a bad day" means that you are inconsistent and therefore aren't that good.

You're right, Elo isn't a perfect indicator as to how skilled one is at a certain ladder; in fact, nothing in life is a perfect indicator of how good you are at something. That's just how life works; you can't use a number or word to perfectly describe how good someone is at something. An SAT score can't perfectly indicate how knowledgeable one is because a test can't show you exactly how smart you are. It's imperfect, just like everything else, including Elo. Yes, we have good and bad days, and that impacts our Elo. And some people even cheat for their Elo (by cheat I mean two things: actually using a hacked client and Elo manipulating). And you're absolutely right that it doesn't show who's the best; gameplay always shows your true skill more than your Elo.However, even with all of its imperfections, Elo is still a decent indicator of skill. If you look at the gameplay of a 1600 and a 2000, you'll definitely notice a huge difference. Elo doesn't perfectly show one's skill as there are many factors that affect it, but it's still decent at showing skill level. You won't ever find a 1200 who can consistently beat a 2000, assuming the 1200 doesn't manipulate his Elo.
And one last thing: In a UHC game, you really should pay attention to labels if you want to win. Generally (99% of the time), a player with good Build Elo is going to be good at PvP. A player with a good W/L ratio is probably good at PvP and good at the UHC gamemode. If you're a 2000 and team with a randy 1200 with a bad W/L ratio, you probably won't be impressed by his skills. That's just how this works. But you are right that we should forget all these numbers and labels. It's nice to have a little fun with someone without sweating buckets to win.

Eh, I'll rewrite what I was writing before but probably a bit less.As Speedily said, elo isn't a perfect indicator of how good a player is. I've been playing Badlion for over a year, over 2 years actually now I'm pretty sure. I've done a shit ton of grinding, and I can tell you that it's not even close to all skill. There are various things that go into getting elo, sometimes being high elo.
For example, there's the ability to grind-
You don't need to be good at the actual game to grind in Badlion Arena. Grinding in this situation is basically being able to/going a decent amount of time without dying. It mostly has to do with consistency. You could be amazing at the game (aim, rod, bow, lava), but still not be able to get as high of elo as someone else who isn't as good as you. If you're consistent but not amazing you could still get high elo. That shows that you don't need to be good at the game to have high elo (you need some skill, of course).
Another thing that could go into getting elo is luck. Gonna use a similar example as last time, you could be amazing but have someone not as amazing that is luckier than you and has better elo. Luck is something you don't really have control over. For example, you could be unlucky and only go against 1400 and elos around there. You could also only fight hackers, and stuff like that. There's also gameplay luck, such as getting stuck in a block, ghosting, getting stuck in lava. Those things all could mess you up and make it harder to get elo. If someone else doesn't fight any hackers, gets lucky in fights against high elos and such, they could easily get higher elo than you.
There's many other factors that go into getting elo, but I'm not gonna get into that right now. As I said, many factors go into elo, not all involving skill. Elo doesn't always define skill, neither does anything else really. It isn't a thing that defines your skill, but it is a good base. It's not a completely reliable source of skill definition. It's something that I find to be a base for how good you are, but it's something that I usually base it off of but I don't completely judge someone off of their elo.

The way you put it, Elo doesn't show at all how good an individual is. That's false, elo is a general but somewhat accurate representation of skill, in my opinion. (Except for those 1400s that are alts of 2.2ks ofc, lol)Posted on 11 May 2016 - 10:22 PM

ELO is a representation of ones CONSISTENCY not SKILL. ANY 2k elo can get drained by a 1200 but a CONSISTENT PLAYER WONTPosted on 11 May 2016 - 11:05 PM

https://www.badlion.net/profile/user/WackMySackJackI agree that ELO doesn't always accurately indicate how good a player is but face it, you're really bad.
Stop self assuring yourself it's extremely embarrassing.

I don't play Badlion to tryhard anymore. I could care less about my elo. I hit 1896 elo last season and Im satisfied with that. I only play Badlion ranked to make sure I don't get rusty and pvp. It's also very entertaining to me even if I lose.
