Congrats to JOYFUL for winning the IronSoup tournament today! He went an impressive 8-0, winning every one of his series in the 127-man double elimination bracket. Overall the tournament went very smoothly, thanks to - in addition to the usual hard work and dedication of our helpers and advisers - an awesome influx of non-tournament staff helping us out. We had a few issues early on with the roster and hit some rough patches in the top 6, but overall we ran an astonishing 300+ Soup matches over the course of 4 hours.GCheat
Hey, it's our old friend GCheat…The newly updated anticheat caught the #2 seeded player cheating today in the Ro32. Thanks to the help of GCheat Admin HalfCreeper, we were able to ban off of his logs. Throughout the tournament, we received numerous reports, however we had Half analyzing the logs closely the whole time, and we can say with decent confidence that it's unlikely any of the top finishers was cheating. I'm personally glad to see GCheat catching high level cheaters again, and I hope that in future tournaments we can adopt and have similar confidence in the Badlion Client (free to use!).
Seeding and Rosters
The seeding went fine, I wasn't expecting as accurate of a seeding this time given that Soup is a less popular kit and this season's kit is pretty different from last season (speed vs no-speed). I tried to balance it a bit more by weighing the global MMR in a bit, but again, it's hard to reach a good balance. I'm fairly happy since I think any tournament with a 3-2 grand-finals is an exciting one, but as always, any input on how this could be done better is appreciated. I would also like to hear if anyone has any ideas for how to seed the CTF tournament, as that's still a subject of debate for us.
I personally apologize for a few roster mistakes. There was a lot of confusion since this tournament was delayed, so we had temp bans expiring to worry about (people who signed up, got banned for the original date, then got unbanned before the new date). I ended up missing someone who we added last night at 3am, and got a few IGNs wrong for people who changed their names this week. One user also slipped completely through the cracks of our roster doc and never ended up in our records at all. Luckily we were able to sub them in for a first round no-shower and let them play. As always, we will continue to use these tournaments to improve our efficiency and organization.
Attendance
Today's tournament had 42% attendance, which is our third worst and worst for a 1v1 tournament.

We will, as always, continue to think of ways to improve this. We did expect a poor attendance, as we had to push this tournament back a week, meaning many people signed up for this event half a month ago. We hope to see better attendance for the CTF tournament in 2 weeks, as we don't anticipate another delay will be necessary and hope that the hype surrounding it will encourage teams to commit to showing up. Again, any ideas that the community has for improving attendance would be awesome. Personally I know some people are confused as to simply what to do and where to go for the tournament. I think more explicit instructions in the announcement post might help, and I'll make sure that is something that we do for next time.
Bumpy Ending
Through 2.5 hours, it looked like we had a perfectly smooth tournament on our hands. Unfortunately, things don't always cooperate, and the Season 15 Beta Arena servers stopped working. From what we can gather, the amount of spectators being TPed while following people in the top 6 put too much of a load on the server and it ended up with dozens of people (including the players) stuck in spectator mode in various lobbies and arenas. We did a full network-wide arena reboot which fixed some of our problems, but as always, everything has been reported to the devs and is being investigated. This unfortunately lead to several matches being played completely unspectated, including one which was disputed against xHeimskr and Drained. Luckily this was all sorted out with screenshot evidence, and the finals went much smoother.
Huge thanks to GyllieGyllie for being on call to help us with all of the problems, without him who knows how long this tournament would have taken (shoutout to Drained though, who stayed up past 5am NZ time to play through all of the madness).
We had a small issue in the finals, which is another arena glitch being investigated: Players with different kits can end up in arenas with matches ongoing.

While we tried locking him in a box, we ultimately decided to restart the match. Anyone who knows anything about this glitch is urged to post more info here in the private Season 15 bug forum.
Thank You
Today we were without Ginie, Listen, and Varicks, who are the go-to tournament bosses. Luckily we had Gonzaloo, who took over and helped us out big time with running everything. Thanks!
Thanks also to all others who helped with running matches:

[2nd - Donator Rank TBD]
[3rd - Donator Rank TBD]
[4th - Donator Rank TBD]
Congrats to EU for taking the top 3 spots!
The above players will be contacted about their prizes soon. As always, full results available on our Challonge: http://badlion.challonge.com/SOUP_SUMMER_2017
We hope to see a lot of you guys again in 2 weeks for our $1000 5v5 Capture the Flag Tournament! Start practicing today with your own parties of 5 by dueling in our CTF lobby. Look for an announcement within the next few days with more details.

A couple questions for discussion:How do you think we should seed the CTF tournament? We are still deciding on this, as we don't want to have any issues with good teams versing each other early, but we also don't want to overexert our influence on the tournament and risk bias by hand-seeding all the teams.
What kind of streamer do you prefer? A more well-known streamer who may be less familiar with the gamemode or individual players (e.g. Huawhi) or a lesser-known streamer with better insight on gamemodes and individual players (a mapmaker/player from the community)? We're unsure if the benefit of possible exposure will be worth it in CTF if the streamer doesn't clearly understand the map.
Finally, do you feel that spectating matches is a valuable aspect of tournaments? Tournament spectating has led to numerous problems over the years, and we wonder if it's worth continuing to allow and encourage specs in matches.

seed CTF by global ELO maybe?
I prefer a streamer who knows what he is talking about
spectating should be disabled - if u type /spec it links you to a twitch/youtube stream link of the people spectating(have more than one)

Gratz to the winners!@Ny_ Where will the 3 last "Summer" tournaments be hosted? Since 2 of the 3 tournaments (Archer 2v2 and Soup 1v1) were hosted on NA.
No idea about the CTF seeding by the way, since nobody's playing it in public… Depending on the number of teams, maybe try to discuss it with people who know the CTF community and who might be able to create a logical seeding. That will not be perfect and probably a little bit biased, but with some serious people involved, it could be the best solution.
About the streaming, why not both? Remove the possibility of spectating matches IG but nominate 2 different streamers : a famous, entertainer one, probably less familial with the gamemode, but also another streaming who really knows the gamemode and can be more technical during the whole tournament. They could stream different matches until the finals.
By the way, thank you for your involvement in tournaments, it seems to make them more serious and I hope that real results will be visible in the coming months.

who even are you and why are you desperately trying to involve yourself into everything just to be relevant for once? i dont know if you're either attention seeking or just really immature or both.
about the tournament: everything apart the organization of the matches was quite poor in my opinion, the loser brackets were unneeded and took way too much time. they are a good addition for smaller tournaments but in this case they just unneededly extended the tournament, which already was long enough. also bad work from the sr. mods im afraid, i got straight up ignored after trying to get someone to check my opponents logs, even after asking mutliple times. and if roxas was NOT banned due to logs then i'm 99% sure it's a false ban, he's an og souper and just really damn good. nice to see someone who records himself cheating getting a money prize and staff doesn't even care, congrats however to joyful, bobo and ted for their deserved spots.

CTF will be NA. I think one of the last 2 tournaments (Build or Debuff) will probably be EU, but that's undecided for now.
I appreciate the feedback! =)
