A. How do you know it's not true? You've never played on the West Coast.
B. "NA-East players shouldn't be allowed to participate this particular tourney, if the get like <20 ms."
spacera. Please grow a brain.
spacerb. Whether they had 1ms or 49.99999 ms, it wouldn't make a difference
spacerc. Even the difference that 1st ping zone vs 2nd zone makes is 1/20th of a second, eg insignificant.

"Seriously doubt" is your way to tell the truth then, nice. Just stop already, you're lowering everyone's IQ who are reading this.

I find this hilarious, as you seem to take this seriously.Posted on 12 January 2016 - 03:34 PM
Also, English isn't my first language so it's kind of pathetic to try insult someone because of that.Posted on 12 January 2016 - 06:59 PM

A. It's minecraft, I take everything with a grain of salt. Your problem if you don't sense that.
B. I mean if you're going to bring up intelligence, it's always desirable to have good grammar…

Correct ideas, wrong understanding.
The server executes stuff at the beginning of a tick. A tick happens on a perfect server every 50ms (since a perfect server is 20tps, which is 20 ticks per second).
All packets get executed in order received at the beginning of each tick (but they all typically get exceuted under 1 ms, which means it looks like they happen at the same time).
Example 1 -
Counter = 40/50
Tick 1 is 40/50ms in. You have 8ms ping. You send an attack packet The server will receive the at 48/50, which means the server will execute your packet in 2 more ms, or at 50. If you had 12 ping, the server would receive it at 52/100, which means it would execute at counter = 100. Ping still matters, but not as much as you think.
Example 2 -
Counter = 2/50
Player 1 has 5ms ping
Player 2 has 40ms ping
Player one and player two sends attack packet at 2/50. The server receives them at 7/50 and 42/50 respectively, meaning they both get executed within nanoseconds of each other at 50ms. This case ping does not matter for this particular packet.
Hope this makes you understand it better.
There are more advanced topics, such as packet receiving is actually half your ping (ping is round trip, sending a packet is 1/2 of that), but that besides the point.

okE senpai. So still only like .05 second difference in most cases?
Like even the counter is in the first scenario, it would be an unnoticeable difference?

Pretty much, unless you have 75+, you're packets will typically only be received by the server 0.05 seconds apart. Ping matters, but not as much as people think it does.Last edited on 12 January 2016 - 07:17 PM by Badware

For most of middle east the timings are kinda late and if none of you know Saturday is like Sunday for you guys, it's the day before work and school starts so it's not convenient.
